The goal of the Project is to spread awareness, education, and resources to
the local churches regarding the needs and spiritual concerns of abuse victims and how to intervene to end the perpetuation
of abuse, to pull resources and organize services to adequately address our community’s, our states, our countries epidemic.
In 2007 our Murrieta community of 100,000 had 3 murders, all were as a result of DV. 100% of these families
came from churches in our community. The number of Domestic Violence
deaths is steadily increasing. The Christian community needs to become equipped to deal with those who turn to them for
help and support. The church community in the Inland Empire has the ability to
impact these rates and the other destructive patterns that result from abuse. Diane Stelling States "Abuse is
often the root cause for many of the destructive behaviors in our society - alcoholism, drug addiction, sexual promiscuity,
eating disorders, and cutting, to name a few. And the root cause of a lifelong cycle of self-hatred for many abuse victims
is their inability to reconcile their shame and guilt before God." Through spreading resources and educating
church staff, leadership, counseling departments of churches, and women’s and men’s ministries we can equip our
churches to fulfill the purpose of the body of Christ in caring for and relieving the oppressed. The goal of the project is
to raise funds to get 100 kits to the churches in Riverside County by April of 2008, the one year aniversary of the death
of Sadie Finney.
